I think we kill off male characters just as often, if not more so.

way to miss the point. the only reason you kill off “more” male characters is because there are so many male characters. main male characters, sidekick male characters, male character villains, etc. 

i think what you need to be asking yourself, is “how often do you kill male characters off just to give some drama to the female characters?”

oh, that’s right. never.
